The founding of Rotary International in 1905 by Paul P Harris on the 23 February was
celebrated at our Club with a toast proposed by Kevan Dacey. Membership of International
Rotary now stands at 1.4 million across the world.
RAWCS/Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment since 1990 have sent 1,162 containers
with donations worth $66.8 million to countries such as Papua New Guinea (769 containers),
Solomon Islands (168 containers), Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Timor Leste. Donations
commonly consist of hospital beds, mattresses, linen and medical supplies, patient trolleys
and wheelchairs, school desks and books.
Our guest speaker on Monday night was Mike Loftus the President of the Sunshine Coast
U3A, which offers 130 different courses and activities. Australia wide, U3A has 25,000
members with 2,200 members on the Sunshine Coast. Even though the organisation does not
participate in fund raising or donating to charities, values are similar to ours and contact
would be worth maintaining.
The response to our new Club dinner arrangements was very positive and so we will continue
with the arrangement. At 6 pm members and guests check in at the front desk, select their
table and order meals at the bar. The Club meeting will commence at 6.50 pm and the guest
speaker will present at 7.30 pm.

The next Club meeting 02 Mar 2026
Our next club meeting will be held at the Mooloolaba Bowls Club. The guest speaker will be
Courtney Clark who will be talking on Nutrition as we age.
Learn how to improve your digestive strength. If you experience burping, bloating,
heartburn, indigestion or sluggish bowels it could be indicating poor stomach acid, low
digestive enzymes or imbalanced gut flora. We aren't what we eat, we are what we DIGEST,
learn takeaway tools to increase bitter foods in the diet and how to safely use apple cider
vinegar as a digestive tonic. Improve nutrition through quality over quantity and find out if
changing when and how we eat can improve how our whole body functions. Nutrient
spotlight - Zinc. Discover how it links to our gut health, sleep and immune system, plus Zinc
rich foods to include in your diet. Nutritionist and Naturopath Courtney Clark shares her
wisdom in a workshop style presentation.
