What a week it has been. Monday began with about 13 visiting Helimod at Caloundra
Airport. We were blown away literally - by the storm and hail that hit at about 3.30 pm and
by the passion, motivation, knowledge and skills, community spirit, and entrepreneurship of
Will Shrapnel who started the company in 2002. Many were sorry to miss this vocational
visit due to the risk of driving in the storm. Thank you to Malcolm for organising.

Tuesday, Donna, Roger and I attended the STEMM graduation at the Nambour RSL and
proudly presented our Mooloolaba Rotary Bursary to a worthy recipient. We listened to
many stories of resilience: stories of lives that changed through support and opportunities
provided for success within an inclusive learning environment and by community
        organisations.

Tuesday was also supposed to be the Senior's Christmas Lunch but due to the teacher's strike
could not go ahead. Thanks to Suncare staff contacting attendees to change the day, Kawana
Waters State College being willing to change the date and Rotarians still being available, the
lunch went ahead on the Wednesday instead. Numbers were down on Wednesday however,
the 44 people who attended had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food provided by KWSC
Year 11 hospitality students, the singing provided by Jesse Anthony and the primary school
students and the gifts from Santa. Thank you to the Rotarians, staff and students at the
school, Suncare and the Sunshine Coast Council for making this day possible.
