Email received by Secretary Kevan from honorary members Geoff & Dianna Fitch
(UK)
Hello Kevan,
Very many thanks for this note - much appreciated, and all noted.
Although I (Geoff) am not expecting to re-visit Australia owing to age problems with flying,
Diana is hoping to come out again in a few years time to see (i.e.l "check") how building
work is progressing in MCY, prior to the Olympics, and Brisbane's participation therein.
I often wear your club membership badge, together with my local club same, at events within
the District. It always is a good ice-breaker to explain why I received it, and I am very proud
to be able to explain our tie-up with MCY club, and our long term association with you. One
recent enquirer was our DG, when attending a reception that we held for a "preview evening"
for our Art Exhibition that we hold each year in the local Buckfast Abbey. (Our main annual
fund raiser for various local/national/international charities).
Do please pass on our warmest regards to all the Members that we know, and let Ian know
how we do enjoy reading the weekly bulletin.
With very best regards
Geoff
Rotary Information
On a mission to end malaria in Zambia.
By Eve Conway, 2023-25 Rotary International Director
Travelling in a convoy of four-wheel drive safari vehicles along unmade sandy
roads, we went deep into a rural area outside Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.
Leaving clouds of sand behind us, we were heading towards Central Province on
World Malaria Day to see the campaign aimed at eradicating this disease in Zambia
in action.
