On Monday this week I was privileged to accent a donation of $2,500 from Maroochy RSL
with Vicki Stewart. Maroochy RSL have been long time supporters of the LTL walk and
have come through again this year. Don't forget that Syd is looking for volunteers next
Monday to put some small signs up around the neighbourhood promoting LTL - put your
name on the roster if you can help.

Wednesday was the TAFE lunch which was superb. We had two tables on the balcony just
for us, it was a warm day but a gentle breeze cooled us down and it was easy to talk as we
weren't competing with everyone else in the main room. I had the chicken satay, steak and
Pavlova, the latter being the highlight of my day - it was awesome. We only have limited
places each year so next time you hear the announcement get in early !!

Also on Monday was our first Club Assembly for the year where we heard reports from a lot
of the Club Service positions as well as the Directors of the major committees, although we
had a few that were overseas. It look longer than expected but for the first one I thought it
wasn't too bad, in my previous Club I've been to Club Assemblies than went on for hours.
Next time it will be better I promise.

It's a Supercars weekend this weekend so ML and I will be spending quality time in front of
the TV watching the Race plus some our favourite support events like the Touring Car
Masters. We were at coffee the other day and a Jeep SRT went past - I've got to say with due
respect to EV's, there is nothing quite like the sound of a big 6.4l naturally aspirated V8.
The transition from Coastguard to Marine Rescue Queensland is going to happen at the end
of September so I've been sorting out my new email and doing induction and other training
in the new software package we will all be using. Bit scary at this stage but I'm sure
everything will come together as planned. I pick up all the new uniforms in a week or two,
got to admit I'll miss the old white shirts, MRQ's are a light blue colour and don't look as
good IMHO.

Our next club meeting will be held at the Mooloolaba Bowls Club. The guest speaker will be
Jessica Cronin who will be talking on Sunshine Coast Young Citizen of 2026.

for Stationery Aid and our 2026 Sunshine Coast Young Citizen of the Year. Jessica is an
inspiring young change maker who has turned her passion for education and community into
extraordinary action - from street libraries and huge stationery drives to projects reaching
children locally and around the world. Come along and hear what can happen when a young
person decides not to wait for the future, but starts changing it now.
