The Interact Conference on 9 May 2026 at Kawana Waters State College was a great
success. Ninety people attended the day with students from Caboolture SHS, Kenmore SHS,
St Michaels, Albany Creek SHS, Kilcoy SHS, Kedron SHS, Genesis Christian College,
Maleny SHS, Aviation High, Noosa District SHS, Yeronga SHS, St Aidens Anglican Girls
School, Kawana Waters State College, Immanuel Lutheran College and three EarlyAct
students from Buddina State School.
The theme was "Belonging" with students being given time to network, to present videos of
their Interact Club activities, and to ask questions of representatives of each Club through a
panel discussion. Guest speakers included Renae Randle from Guide Dogs Queensland,
Fiona Simpson MP and Jessica Cronin (Sunshine Coast Young Australian of the Year).
Jessica, a Year 10 student, spoke of the projects she has initiated which included care packs
for domestic violence victims, community street libraries, and school literacy programs. She
has also earned international recognition through the Future Problem-Solving International
Conference and is also the Project Founder of "2030 in Focus" and a Youth Ambassador for
Stationery Aid.
The House of Friendship consisted of representatives from Caloundra Day for Girls, Guide
Dogs Qld, Plant Based Solutions, Shelter Bags, Youth Exchange, Australian Rotary Health,
Equine Alliance, RYDA, RAWCS/RARE and Hospital PJ's as well as a display by Kawana
Waters State College.
Feedback has been very positive with praise for guest speakers and the opportunities to
network. Recommendations for future Conferences related to ways to address the diverse
dietary needs of attendees and the need for extra time to be allocated to break-out sessions.
The success of the Conference is thanks to the organisational skills, commitment and energy
of Anne Allen, and the contributions of Immanuel Lutheran College and Kirsten Zweck.
Thanks also to Mooloolaba Rotarians who provided great support on the day- Mary-Anne,
Alison, Lyn, Peter, Andrew, Charles and Xavier.

individuals at imminent risk of suicide. Currently, the only option for those in crisis is public
mental health services, which face overwhelming demand and significant systemic
challenges. jacks place seeks to fill this critical gap by creating a safe, therapeutic
environment designed specifically for suicide prevention. At the heart of this initiative is the
